About me

Jenny Jing Zhang is an artist, illustrator, architectural designer, and educator based in Chicago. Her passion for sketching and drawing began in childhood, nurtured by opportunities to sketch on location in various cities across her native China. This early love for art and architecture led her to pursue a Master's degree in Architecture, which she earned from Texas A&M University in 2013.

Jenny specializes in freehand ink and pencil drawings, often enhanced with light watercolor washes. Drawing inspiration from Paul Klee's notion that "A drawing is simply a line going for a walk," she embraces loose, fluid lines, allowing them to organically shape her work.

In 2022, Jenny was awarded a Fellowship to reside and conduct urban sketching in Civita di Bagnoregio, Italy, a pivotal experience that deepened her artistic practice. Her first solo art exhibition was held at Artful Framer Studios from July 26 to August 24, 2024. Additionally, she has shared her expertise by teaching workshops at the USk Chicago Seminars in 2019, 2022, and 2024, and she continues to host workshops at Artful Framer Studios.
